Job Description
Maxar Intelligence is hiring immediately for a Software Engineer to join our team in Westminster, CO. This position requires in-office work three days per week, with an option to work from home two days.
The software engineering group for this position is responsible for the Mission Control System (MCS) domain of the Maxar Ground System for our constellation of earth observation satellites. The role reports to an Agile Manager and works with System Engineers, Operations Engineers, Spacecraft Engineers, Space Vehicle Operators, Scrum Master and Product Owners.
As a member of an agile scrum team, the Software Development Engineer will work on a cross-functional team on the next gen, cloud-based, satellite ground system software. The team member will provide on-schedule, high quality, operational and test code adhering to designs, acceptance criteria and corporate standards, with appropriate demonstrations and documentation.
Responsibilities
Software design and development of operational code of new features and defect repairs
Develop automated unit and functional tests
Demonstration and documentation of functionality and test results
Troubleshoot operational issues
Support deadlines and communicate issues/results
Participate in Communities of Practice for adherence and improvement of best practices
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of software development experience with complex software systems
Expertise with Ruby
Expertise with test automation
Expertise in UNIX
Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent experience
Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SOA/REST/JSON/PostgreSQL/AWS S3/Cloud Foundry/Elasticsearch
Expertise with Angular and/or Python
Experience with Aerospace and/or Satellite Ground Systems
Experience with test automation languages/frameworks: Cucumber, Gherkin, Behave
Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment
Experience with ops support of a complex UNIX-based system

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $102,000.00 – $170,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
