Job Description

Obvious has built the world’s most capable, collaborative AI agent—one that partners with knowledge workers to produce their best work. We’re about to change how billions of people work and create. And we need someone who can turn interest into adoption, and adoption into growth that compounds.

What You’ll Do

You’ll own the full lifecycle of user growth, from the moment someone first hears about Obvious to when they become a power user who can’t imagine working without it. This means building systems, running experiments, optimizing conversions, and finding growth levers that scale. You’ll work across SEO, lifecycle marketing, CRO, A/B testing, and partnerships that drive acquisition.

Build and optimize the growth engine

Own our lifecycle marketing strategy from acquisition through activation, retention, and expansion. You’ll design onboarding flows, email campaigns, in-product messaging, and re-engagement loops that move people through the funnel and keep them engaged.

Run experiments that matter

Design and execute A/B tests across landing pages, pricing, messaging, onboarding, and product flows. You should be comfortable with statistical significance, know when to kill a test, and be ruthless about learning fast. Every experiment should teach us something, even when it fails.

Drive organic growth through SEO and GEO

Build our search presence across Google and AI-powered search engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.). Understand how people discover tools like ours, and make sure we’re showing up in the right places with the right message. This isn’t about gaming algorithms; it’s about being genuinely useful.

Optimize conversion at every step

Obsess over conversion rates across the entire user journey. Identify drop-off points, test solutions, and systematically improve the experience from first touch to paying customer. You should be able to look at a funnel and immediately see opportunities.

Explore partnerships and distribution channels

Identify and build partnerships that unlock new growth channels—whether that’s integrations, co-marketing opportunities, affiliate relationships, or influencer collaborations. You’ll need to think creatively about distribution and be comfortable building relationships that drive measurable results.

What We’re Looking For

You’re a systems thinker with a bias for action

You see the whole picture and how acquisition, activation, retention, and revenue fit together, but you’re not paralyzed by complexity. You build systems, test fast, and iterate based on data.

You’re deeply analytical

You’re comfortable in spreadsheets, analytics tools, and experimentation platforms. You know how to design clean tests, interpret results, and translate data into action. You don’t just report numbers; you use them to make decisions.

You understand modern search

You know how SEO works in 2025, which means you understand both traditional Google search and the emerging world of AI-powered search engines. You know how to optimize for discovery without sacrificing quality.

You’re technical enough to be dangerous

You don’t need to write production code, but you should be comfortable with APIs, tracking implementations, SQL queries (or using tools that enable you to self-serve), and working closely with engineers. You can translate marketing needs into technical requirements and vice versa.

You move fast and learn faster

You don’t wait for perfect data or consensus. You form hypotheses, run tests, learn quickly, and move on. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and energized by the challenge of figuring things out.

You have the track record

You’ve driven measurable growth before—whether that’s improving conversion rates, scaling acquisition channels, or building lifecycle programs that moved retention metrics. You can walk us through what you built, what worked, and what you learned.

What It’s Really Like

This isn’t a role where you’ll be executing someone else’s playbook. You’ll be building our growth function from the early days, which means you need to be comfortable with uncertainty and excited by the opportunity to shape strategy from scratch.

You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and the rest of the marketing team. You’ll have access to a product that people genuinely love (and that you’ll use every day), and you’ll be expected to find creative, scalable ways to get it in front of more people.

The team is small, the pace is fast, and the expectations are high. You’ll be surrounded by people who’ve scaled products at Netflix, Uber, Google, and Meta. This is a chance to be the first growth hire at a company that’s about to reshape how the world works.

The not-so-secret sauce

High agency, low ego

You’ll have the freedom to make calls and the responsibility to own outcomes. Feedback flows in all directions here.

AI adoption isn’t optional

You’ll use Obvious and other AI tools daily. Our goals demand exceptional effort and high leverage—AI is how we get there.

Work in public

We avoid private threads. Progress happens in shared spaces where the team can see, contribute, and learn.

Take on hard things

This isn’t the place to coast. You’ll tackle challenges at the edge of what’s possible, often outside your comfort zone.

Meaningful equity—you’ll own a real piece of something that could be huge.
