About The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Social Media Manager to join our marketing team at Acorns. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing our social media strategy across multiple platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging channels. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of social media trends, culture, and content creation, with a passion for transforming social scrolling into meaningful financial education and engagement. As a key member of the brand marketing team, you will be responsible for developing compelling content, managing community interactions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure our social voice aligns with our mission to promote financial wellness. Reporting to the Director of Brand Marketing, you will play a vital role in elevating the Acorns brand and fostering an engaged, inspired community around financial literacy and investing.
Qualifications
5-8+ years of experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing
Proven portfolio demonstrating engaging short-form videos, Reels, TikToks, and other social content
Hands-on experience managing social media channels and developing impactful digital content
Strong understanding of current social media trends, culture, and platform algorithms
Exceptional storytelling and writing skills with a keen eye for visuals
On-camera presence with authenticity, wit, and confidence
Creative, strategic thinker with a passion for innovation
Experience in fintech, finance, or related industries is a plus but not mandatory
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adapt to change
Deep empathy for customers and a passion for financial education
Excellent collaboration skills across creative, marketing, and product teams
Strong analytical skills to measure performance and optimize strategies
Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of social media strategies aligned with broader marketing and business objectives
Expand and refine Acorns’ social presence across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, LinkedIn, and YouTube
Create and manage a dynamic content calendar ensuring timely and relevant content delivery
Own and maintain the brand voice on social media, collaborating with creative and cross-functional teams to bring the brand to life
Engage actively with community members, fostering a positive and engaged online community
Manage customer inquiries, support topics, and escalations with empathy and clarity
Partner with creative teams to develop innovative, social-first content that resonates with audiences
Stay ahead of social media trends and identify opportunities to integrate Acorns into relevant conversations
Source and highlight customer stories that demonstrate the real-life impact of financial literacy and investing
Identify, source, and manage relationships with content creators and social media influencers
Analyze social media performance metrics, generate insights, and optimize campaigns for better engagement and reach
Pitch and execute innovative brand ideas to grow Acorns’ presence as a leader in financial conversations
