About The Role
The Data Entry Specialist plays a vital role within the Processing Division located at 1600 W Monroe St, Phoenix, AZ. This position is responsible for accurately entering tax return information into multiple systems, adhering strictly to standard operating procedures and customer-specific instructions. The role involves maintaining high productivity and quality standards, possessing a fundamental understanding of various tax types and systems. Additionally, the Data Entry Specialist provides quality assurance by reviewing batches processed by newer team members and may assist in training new staff. This position offers flexibility with remote work options within Arizona, contingent upon departmental needs and performance metrics. The role is essential in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of tax data processing, supporting the department’s mission to efficiently fund Arizona’s future.
Qualifications
High School Diploma (HSD) or General Education Degree (GED)
Previous data entry experience preferred
Knowledge of tax types and systems is advantageous
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with Google Suite applications (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Drive)
Strong 10-key skills (e.g., 15,000+ KPH, 60+ WPM)
Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to learn and apply LEAN/Continuous Improvement principles
Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting and tax compliance verification
Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and solve problems logically

Responsibilities
Review and interpret information on tax documents or images for accurate data entry
Transfer data from paper formats into computer files, database systems, and tax systems using a QWERTY keyboard
Verify the accuracy of data entered by comparing it with source documents
Maintain and update daily production reports to track data entry progress
Conduct quality assurance by reviewing completed batches processed by newer staff members
Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, policies, and best practices related to taxation through ongoing research and training
Participate actively in team meetings, work huddles, and continuous improvement initiatives
Contribute to process improvements by applying lean principles and providing suggestions for efficiency enhancements
Complete all required training in a timely manner and participate in assigned work teams
Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive tax information at all times
Assist in training new staff members as needed, sharing best practices and knowledge
