The Role

The Software Engineer contributes significantly to the success of the software development team by delivering high-quality software solutions, adhering to coding standards, and collaborating with team members and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Systems Director, this role supports the implementation of software aligned with architectural standards and business objectives, while actively participating in continuous improvement efforts across processes and

Practices.

Responsibilities

Develop high-quality, testable, elegant, and maintainable software solutions.
Implement software systems that align with architectural standards and business goals.
Follow and contribute to established coding standards and workflows, ensuring consistency and quality.
Actively participate in the full Software Development Lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and deployment.
Collaborate on shaping system architecture, ensuring scalability and robustness.
Address development support tickets efficiently and identify recurring issues for further investigation and resolution.
Work with stakeholders, including non-technical teams, to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
Participate in scoping, estimation, and planning of development work using iterative/agile approaches, ensuring effort forecasting is as accurate as possible.
Take ownership of assigned tasks, ensuring tickets and Monday boards are kept up-to-date with key details, including call notes, scope updates, and progress.
Participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback to improve team outputs.
Follow and encourage workflow best practices to support team efficiency and quality.
Support a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration to enhance team practices.

Skills

Demonstrable expertise in PHP working within a commercial setting and development team.
Experience using the Laravel framework in a professional setting.
Sound understanding of OOP
Proficiency in HTML, Javascript & CSS
Strong communication skills capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working with high-traffic systems and leveraging AWS services.
Proven track record of building customised business systems.
Strong analytical skills for problem solving and debugging.
