Everyday Speech is a no-prep digital curriculum designed to accelerate the acquisition and generalization of social, behavioral, and communication skills for PK-12 learners of diverse ability levels. The MTSS-aligned curriculum combines evidence-based video modeling, interactive web games, and digital and printable worksheets to make it easy for special educators, speech-language pathologists, and other student support services specialists to support every student and every tier. Within the Content Department, the Freelance Video Editor-Animator will support the video team with the production of our curriculum-based video modeling lessons on an as-needed, project-by-project basis. While scripting, storyboarding, animations, and assets will be developed by the internal team, the Freelance Editor-Animator will be responsible for creating all live-action and audio editing, fully assembling videos using all provided elements, and implementing revisions across video, animation, and sound based on individual feedback rounds.

In This Role, You Will

Edit and produce engaging educational videos using provided scripts, templates, animations, and brand assets, with a primary focus on live-action video editing.
Receive a partially completed video (including pre-built animations, scripting, and template setup) and complete the remaining sections in alignment with the provided script, style guide, and visual standards.
Assemble all components into a cohesive final video, ensuring smooth integration between live-action and animated sections.
Own the video through all feedback rounds, implementing notes and revisions across the entire project, including live-action footage, animations, narration, timing, and on-screen graphics.
Deliver final exports that meet technical specifications, quality standards, and project deadlines.

Tasks May Include, But Are Not Limited To

Raw footage reviewing and take selection
Editing live-action video, including syncing sound to video
Timing narration to video
Voiceover editing
Editing and mixing audio, including SFX and background music
Performing color correction
Keying green screen footage
Assembling and timing pre-created animations within video sequences
Editing or customizing motion graphics and text elements
Working with MOGRTs
Adjustments and edits to pre-created character animations
Applying detailed revisions across all media types based on feedback rounds (including but not limited to: animations, live action, narration, audio, graphics)
Providing multiple export types based on finalization

What We’re Looking For

High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Working on a MacOS system required.
Proficient in live-action editing and audio editing – including SFX, narration editing, background music integration, and audio clean-up.
Skilled in green screen keying.
Strong knowledge in 2D character animation and motion graphics.
Ability to consistently follow provided scripts, style guides, and visual standards.
Commitment to using and maintaining project templates and file organization systems.
Ability to download and upload project files and elements within our established process.
Comfortable with receiving and implementing feedback notes, even on elements of the video you did not initially create.
Ability to continuously share project files through established processes at each milestone to mitigate production risks.
Comfortable working within our digital workspace tools such as: Dropbox, Dropbox Replay, Asana, Google Drive, and Slack.
Clear, responsive, and proactive communication skills with a willingness to ask clarifying questions rather than making assumptions.
Strong ability to manage deadlines and work within a fast-paced, feedback-driven production schedule.
Availability to work synchronously with the in-house team and communicate fluidly between 9 AM to 1 PM US Eastern Time from Mondays to Thursdays.
Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong file and workflow management practices.
Ability to work independently while following direction and project documentation.
Experience editing educational, instructional, or e-learning videos is a not required but is recommended.

Projected Workflow & Timeline

This is a project-based freelance role with work assigned as needed throughout 2026 and early 2027. Video editing schedules will be shared mostly weeks in advance, with a slight chance of one-off requests or projects needing shorter turn around time.
Edits for each video are estimated to take approximately 2.5 weeks from start to final delivery, including all feedback and revisions.
All videos will go through a 4-round internal review process to ensure quality and consistency.
Videos usually average 6-8 minutes long each and include elements of: voiceover narration, live action narration, character animations, live action video, green screen, graphics, SFX.
You’ll receive all necessary templates, graphics, footage, and assets at the start of each project to complete the videos within our established standards.
While actively working on a project, all communications will take place within Slack and Asana.

Compensation

$350 flat rate for onboarding period, estimated 4hrs of work
$850 flat rate per video, as assigned

Video assignments will be available on an ongoing basis throughout 2026 and early 2027. A steady flow of recurring video assignments is anticipated, though volume may fluctuate based on business needs and internal team production capacity.
