This role requires a keen editorial eye to identify both standout and nuanced moments from full episodes, making complex civic and policy topics accessible and relevant for a 40-and-under audience. You will be working with content that explores Atlanta’s political, cultural, and community landscape, aiming to create clips that resonate with both local and broader audiences. Timely turnaround and adaptability are crucial, especially when breaking news makes archived discussions newly relevant.

Deliverables

Edit long-form podcast episodes into multiple short-form vertical clips (9:16 format) optimized for social media.
Select and highlight both obvious and subtle moments that capture the essence of political, civic, and cultural conversations.
Add strong hooks, accurate captions, and ensure platform-ready formatting for each clip.
Maintain consistent communication and deliver edits within agreed timelines, with flexibility to prioritize urgent content.
Collaborate remotely and respond promptly to feedback and editorial direction.

Requirements

Proven experience editing short-form video content, especially for podcasts, interviews, news, or public affairs.
Strong editorial judgment with the ability to make complex topics accessible and engaging.
Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
Ability to independently review and identify compelling moments from long-form content.
Excellent attention to detail, especially in captioning and formatting for social platforms.
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
