About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Staff Frontend Engineer for a Forward-Deployed position to join our team at Foxglove. This role is tailored for a product-oriented full-stack engineer who excels in customer-facing environments and enjoys tackling complex technical challenges within robotics and observability domains. As a Forward-Deployed Engineer, you will work directly with strategic clients to integrate and customize Foxglove’s platform within their operational environments, ensuring optimal performance and usability. You will also contribute to our core product development by providing upstream feedback and enhancements. This position offers a unique blend of hands-on development, innovative problem-solving, and close collaboration with customer teams, allowing you to serve as a trusted engineering partner and influence product evolution based on real-world use cases. The role is based in Seattle, with opportunities for extensive travel and on-site engagement with clients as needed.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional experience in JavaScript/TypeScript development
3+ years of experience working with Robotics or Autonomous systems
Proven experience in customer-facing engineering roles, particularly within robotics or autonomy sectors
Strong track record of rapid prototyping and iterative delivery in collaborative environments
Expertise in front-end development with React and TypeScript
Back-end experience with Node.js and Python
Familiarity with C++ or ROS is a plus
Solid understanding of network and cloud architecture (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Experience working with database-backed REST APIs
Ability to own problems end-to-end, communicate technical details effectively, and learn quickly
Willingness to travel extensively and work on-site with customers when required

Responsibilities

Embed deeply with customer teams to understand their business goals, technical constraints, and domain-specific requirements
Design and develop end-to-end solutions using an experiment-driven, iterative approach with technologies such as TypeScript/React, Node.js, Python, ROS, and SQL
Draft clear scopes of work, project timelines, and success metrics for proofs-of-concept and production deployments
Collaborate closely with customer engineers by coding side-by-side, deploying solutions on cloud or on-premise environments to ensure successful adoption
Partner with Sales and Customer Success teams to deliver seamless customer experiences and measurable results
Provide product feedback based on frontline insights to Research, Product, and Engineering teams to influence the product roadmap
Document best practices, contribute to internal libraries, and mentor future Forward-Deployed Engineers to scale the function effectively
