As Project Manager on the Operational Excellence team, the individual will be responsible for leading projects from idea to delivery and building lasting relationships with business leaders and other key stakeholders.

The Operational Excellence Team partners with leaders within the organization to maximize the value of existing operations and operationalize new capabilities. The team helps identify and organize the people, processes, and technology needed to achieve operational goals.
Ideal candidates for this position will bring passion and experience in project management and have interest and experience in adjacent areas like business analysis, business systems analysis and/or organizational change management.

Key Responsibilities

Build trusting relationships with customers and gain a deep understanding of their goals and how they support the organization’s vision.
Partner with customers and subject matter experts to develop plans that solve problems, optimize processes, and make efficient use of resources by translating business needs into scalable, actionable, technical solutions.
Apply and ensure the team applies good economic thinking when developing solutions.
Develop and manage project plans, including setting value metrics and success criteria, defining scope, identifying resources, and establishing timelines.
Drive accountability amongst team members and stakeholders.
Maintain transparent communication channels with stakeholders.
Apply the community’s risk philosophy to tailor project management activities.
Ensure application of Organizational Change Management (OCM) to customer-facing projects.
Ensure coordination of Compliance, Security, and other foundational teams where needed.
Mentor others in project management basics and best practices.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in program or project management, with a strong track record of operational excellence and leading project teams.
Strong economic thinking skills.
Strategic thinking and understanding the why of the project in addition to the what.
Demonstrated ability to manage senior-level stakeholders and navigate complex organizational structures.
Proactive problem-solving skills and adaptability in fast-paced, dynamic settings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships across the organization.
Entrepreneurial spirit to work both tactically and strategically with a high sense of urgency.
Experience with a variety of project management methods and tools, including waterfall and agile methods like Scrum and Kan Ban to support efficient project delivery.
Ability to work on-site in Arlington, VA.
Enthusiasm to contribute to the organization’s vision and principled approach to solving problems, and a commitment to stewarding the culture, which champions values including transformation and innovation, entrepreneurialism, humility, and respect.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with business analysis and/or business systems analysis.
Experience with organizational change management.
Experience facilitating workshops as an information gathering technique (examples include work breakdown structure, risk management, process mapping, identifying stakeholders).
