About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager of Software Engineering to join our team within the Corporate & Investment Bank at J.P. Morgan. This leadership role involves providing technical coaching and strategic guidance to multiple engineering teams, ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects that advance our financial technology capabilities. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical advisor, mentor, and collaborator, working closely with cross-functional teams to identify dependencies, mitigate risks, and drive operational efficiencies. You will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of innovative solutions in a cloud-based environment, leveraging your expertise in full-stack development, cloud infrastructure, and data analysis. Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, coupled with a minimum of five years of applied experience in the field. Additionally, at least two years of experience leading technologists and managing technical teams are required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to guide teams towards achieving strategic goals, with a proven track record of hiring, developing, and recognizing talent. Deep knowledge of the services industry and relevant IT systems is essential, along with senior technical expertise as a full-stack developer, including proficiency in Java, Microservices, ReactJS UI, CSS, and cloud technologies such as AWS, Infrastructure design, ETL, Glue, Python, and Aurora PostgreSQL. A solid understanding of building scalable services in cloud environments and strong data analysis skills are also necessary. A background in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines is preferred.
Responsibilities
The Senior Manager will provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching to a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers working on moderately complex tasks. You will be accountable for resource allocation, budget management, tactical operations, and ensuring that processes and procedures are effectively implemented. Facilitating collaboration across various teams and stakeholders is critical to ensure project success. You will identify potential issues early, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate problems as needed to maintain momentum. Providing input to leadership on budget, technical approach, and operational improvements will be part of your responsibilities.
