Are you a seasoned Java Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems at scale? Join our growing engineering team to help build Epiq Discovery — a cutting-edge, cloud-native eDiscovery platform used by legal professionals worldwide to manage massive volumes of unstructured data.
We’re looking for a Java-focused backend engineer who’s passionate about building scalable, high-performance systems in the cloud. You’ll work on a globally distributed Agile team, contribute to new feature development, and help us integrate advanced AI capabilities into our platform.
What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain backend services using Java (8+ years experience preferred)
Collaborate in an Agile team to deliver new features and enhancements
Work with cloud-native technologies (AWS, Azure) including EC2, S3, Lambda, and OpenSearch
Optimize performance for large-scale data processing (think petabytes!)
Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with strong unit test coverage
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Explore and prototype new technologies to solve eDiscovery challenges
Tech Stack You’ll Work With
Languages: Java (primary), Python (secondary – FastAPI, Django)
Cloud: AWS (preferred), Azure
Databases: MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle
Search: Elasticsearch / AWS OpenSearch
Tools: Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes (a plus)
What We’re Looking For
4+ years of professional experience in Java backend development
Strong understanding of concurrent programming (threads, locks, semaphores, etc.)
Experience with cloud infrastructure and distributed systems
Solid SQL skills — you can write and tune complex queries
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Bonus: Experience with large-scale data systems or legal tech platforms

The Compensation range for this role is 90,000.00 to 130,000.00 USD annually and may be eligible for an annual bonus.
Your specific salary will be determined based on several factors:
Location-based market rate for the role
Your abilities in relation to the job specification
Performance during screening and interview
Pay parity with the wider team in the considered location
