About The Role

Our core mission is to bring Bitcoin to people around the world, unlocking new use cases and products to accelerate a world built on better money. As part of our Bitcoin Platform Trading team, you will play a vital role in designing, building, and operating scalable systems that support millions of CashApp users and Square Sellers, facilitating over US$2 billion in transactions each quarter. Your contributions will be instrumental in enhancing the platform’s ability to manage Bitcoin liquidity efficiently and seamlessly, ensuring our products meet customer needs with simplicity and reliability. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a decentralized, collaborative environment with team members across the U.S. and Australia, contributing to innovative solutions in the digital asset space. Qualifications

Proven technical expertise in distributed system architecture and digital asset domains
Experience contributing to all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Strong background in building backend systems at scale using modern eventing, database, and infrastructure tools
Pragmatic approach focused on delivery and achieving business outcomes
Passion for learning and contributing to the evolving world of Bitcoin and digital assets
Leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding technical teams
Proficiency in programming languages such as Kotlin, Go, Java, and Typescript
Ability to influence organizational strategies and foster cross-functional collaboration
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex, ambiguous technical challenges

Responsibilities

Deliver high-impact technical solutions by designing and implementing scalable systems that support digital asset transactions
Lead resolution of complex and ambiguous problems, shaping system architecture and driving innovation
Define and communicate long-term technical vision and strategic roadmaps in alignment with organizational goals
Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to ensure engineering decisions support overall business strategy
Build and maintain trusted relationships across functions, fostering clarity and shared understanding among teams
Set and uphold technical standards, promoting best practices and continuous improvement in developer experience
Guide and mentor team members, supporting their professional growth and skill development
Maintain system reliability through active on-call participation, utilizing observability tools like Datadog to monitor system health and performance
Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving
