About The Role

Navstar is seeking experienced Mid-Level to Senior Web Developers to join our team in Colorado Springs, onsite at our office near Space Center Drive. This pivotal role involves the design, redesign, and development of web-based mission planning and monitoring ground software. The successful candidates will work closely with product owners, scrum masters, and fellow developers to create robust, scalable, and secure web applications tailored for mission-critical operations. The position requires a deep understanding of system design, communication protocols, and web development frameworks, with a particular focus on ReactJS and the Phoenix Framework/Elixir language. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to a dynamic environment where innovation and precision are paramount, supporting our mission to deliver reliable and efficient solutions for space and defense applications.

Qualifications

The ideal candidates will possess over five years of professional web development experience, demonstrating proficiency across multiple server-side and client-side web technologies. Experience with frameworks such as Express.js, Django, Phoenix, Elixir, Java Spring, or Flask is essential. On the client side, familiarity with React, Angular, Vue.js, or Svelte is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience working with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OpenStack, and be knowledgeable in developing Single Page Applications (SPAs), utilizing Redux, Electron, Websockets, and managing global application state. Preferred qualifications include experience with cybersecurity standards relevant to web architectures, automation of software builds, continuous integration, configuration management, and deployment processes. Prior work on satellite ground software—particularly in Command and Control, Mission Planning, Visualization, or Astrodynamics—is highly desirable. A solid understanding of UX/UI design principles will be considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining web-based ground software critical to mission planning and monitoring. Your duties will include designing scalable architecture, implementing user interfaces, and integrating communication protocols for real-time data streaming. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate mission requirements into functional web applications, ensuring they meet security, performance, and usability standards. You will participate in code reviews, contribute to system documentation, and assist in deploying applications within cloud environments. Additionally, you will stay current with emerging web technologies and cybersecurity best practices, recommending improvements to enhance system resilience and efficiency. Your role will also involve troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring seamless integration with other mission systems.
