We work alongside historically marginalized communities to remove access barriers, expand care models, and reimagine how health systems can serve people more equitably—on the street, in schools, and across rural and urban neighborhoods.
Position Overview
WEA is seeking a creative, motivated, and mission-driven Marketing & Communications Intern to join our team. Reporting directly to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the intern will support brand storytelling and visibility across digital platforms. This role is ideal for a student or early-career professional looking to gain real-world experience in public health communications, with a focus on visual and written content development, social media strategy, and website updates.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the creation of visual and written content for social media, email, print, and web platforms
Support social media scheduling, engagement, and analytics across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, etc.)
Help update and maintain WEA’s website using Squarespace, ensuring content is fresh, relevant, and accessible
Collaborate on campaign development and digital storytelling to highlight programs, initiatives, and impact
Assist with the creation of marketing materials and toolkits to support field teams and partners
Contribute to internal communications and brand consistency efforts
Conduct light research and gather assets to support campaigns and executive communications
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Strong writing and editing skills with an eye for visual storytelling
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or Canva
Experience using Squarespace or similar web content management systems
Passion for public health, health equity, and community impact
Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Time Commitment
10–15 hours per week, flexible schedule. Duration: 6-9 months
