We Are: Commonwealth Corporation (CommCorp) is a quasi-public workforce development agency that strengthens the skills of Massachusetts youth, incumbent and unemployed/underemployed adult workers, and justice-involved individuals.  CommCorp invests in and administers seven diverse workforce development programs and builds innovative partnerships with industry, education, and workforce organizations.

About the Sector Strategies Unit: Sector Strategies focuses on developing a pipeline of workers and upskilling through key programs including the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund (WCTF) and the Career Technical Initiative (CTI). The Sector Strategies team supports the development of partnerships throughout Massachusetts among business, education, workforce development and community leaders to continuously address the in-demand needs of bridging labor and industry.

Position Title: Grant Management Intern (Hybrid)

Reports To: Sector Strategies Senior Program Manager

Level: Paid Internship

Compensation: -Total compensation for the internship is $4,650.00 spread over bi-weekly payments

Schedule: 20 hours per week M-F(August 25 – November 14, 2025)

Position Overview

Commonwealth Corporation is looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented intern who is eager to learn about grant management while supporting our grant monitoring processes and data analysis. You will be working closely with our Sector Strategies team to analyze and visualize grantee performance data, learn and engage with the grant lifecycle process, and participate in the early stages of the grantmaking process. To be successful as an Intern, you should demonstrate a curiosity for problem-solving and a strong willingness to learn. You should be willing to ask questions, help with tasks assigned by your supervisor, and be willing to take ownership over your assigned projects. You will have opportunities to be involved in meetings with grantee partners, contribute to internal data analysis and reporting projects, and to network internally and externally. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of grant management while working for a quasi-public workforce development organization.

Intern Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Visualization

Review, analyze, and visualize current and historical performance data to evaluate the impact of the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund (WCTF) program.
Produce reports and generate data visualizations illustrating the impacts of the program.
Support the team with data storytelling, using the data analysis and visualizations to craft compelling narratives and insights that illustrate the WCTF program’s impact.
Analyze outcomes data reports to assess grantees’ performance according to their program goals.

Grant Contract Monitoring Support

Support the Program Management staff by monitoring grantee partners’ progress toward their contracted goals for program planning and implementation.
Analyze outcomes data reports to assess grantees’ performance according to their program goals.
Shadow technical assistance meetings with grantee partners.
Assist the Program Management staff at in-person events such as grant award announcements, communities of practice, and/or convenings with run-of-show tasks such as set-up and check-in.

Grantmaking Process Support

Collaborate with the Sector Team to support key tasks within the grantmaking process.
Schedule permitting, participate in the grant application review process by reading and scoring application submissions.
Serve on an application review committee.

Sector Team Support

Schedule permitting, attend bi-weekly Sector Team meetings for teamwide updates and program management learning opportunities.
Schedule permitting, attend bi-monthly Comm Corp All-Staff meetings.

Intern Requirements

Must be living in Massachusetts during the internship period.
An undergraduate, recent undergraduate, or graduate student with interest and relevant experience in grant management, data analysis and visualization, adult education, workforce development, or similar fields.
Demonstrated experience or coursework in Research, Adult Education, Economics, or a Human Service field.
Background or coursework in data analysis, data visualization, and data storytelling.
Ability to take initiative and ask questions as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
Ability to manage multiple task assignments and prioritize when handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
Qualified candidates should be detail-oriented, organized, dependable, resourceful, enthusiastic, and proactive.
Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI and Power Query are a plus.
Familiarity with CRM databases such as Salesforce is a plus.
Familiarity with case management software like Apricot by Social Solutions is a plus.
Interest in public policy and workforce development is a plus.
